Kimo’s Vegas
WELCOME TO Kimo’s Vegas … The Player’s Edge!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU … Tournament of Kings is celebrating its 20th year of timeless family entertainment. It’s a big Vegas production in a 900-seat theater in the round with 38 horses and 44 actors, one of whom is Hawaii’s own Shane Kawamura, who plays one of the five Dragon Warriors (bad guys) in the show. He says, “We must keep a figure that suits our role at all times. The diets are hard, but it helps motivate me to keep going and opens doors to many other gigs.” You also can check him out in the new Ving Rhames movie Submission and at TJ Lavin’s new gentleman’s club called Discreet.
MICHAEL CHOW spent his 33rd birthday at the tables of the World Series of Poker. He beat a field of 818 in the $1,500 Omaha high-low split event 4 to win $237,463 (that’s a sweet birthday present). Only the second Hawaii player to win a WSOP bracelet, he says, “I have been working hard trying to make a living for the past four or five years.
I made a final table at the WSOP before, and I won a Bellagio event. So I have had cashes here and there. But to win a gold bracelet, that’s everything to me.”
ACTOR, COMEDIAN and celebrity poker enthusiast Brad Garrett is opening his own comedy club. Raymond’s older bro is set to take over the Tropicana’s Comedy Stop Club beginning June 28.
