Youth On Track For Success
Watch out, Bryan Clay. The Olympic gold medalist from Hawaii via Castle High School might need to look over his shoulder soon as a new crop of athletes learns about and experiences the thrills of competing in track and field events.
The next generation of Olympic hopefuls showcased their various skill sets at the Mayor’s Age Group Track Meet two weekends ago. The event kicked off Saturday, April 30, and concluded Sunday, May 1, at Vidinha Stadium.
The photos portray action from Sunday’s “Middle School Day,” which featured young athletes in sixth through eighth grades representing schools across the island competing in multiple events including the softball throw, standing broad jump, 440 meter relay and 50-meter dash.
