Kimo’s Vegas
WELCOME TO Kimo’s Vegas … The Player’s Edge!
THE HOME Shopping Network celebrated its 33rd birthday by cablecasting live from Las Vegas. On hand for the weekend of shopping, partying and playing at Planet Hollywood were actresses Molly Sims, Tori Spelling, Susan Lucci and Jennifer Flavin Stallone (Sly’s significant other), Wolfgang Puck and more.
YO … The universe aligned for the Stallones, who also were in town for the premiere of Sly’s latest flick, The Expendables.
WOLFGANG PUCK invites you to join him Sept. 16 in the Venetian Showroom. The master chef will show his stuff in a live demo exclusively for Grazie players. Members or rated credit players, call 866-898-8014 for the setup.
HOW BIG IS IT? Big enough to be the largest video display ever seen in an airport. Maybe even big enough to warrant a trip to Concourse D. Measuring 33-by-19 feet and made from 100 (ultra-thin bezel) screens, it looks just like one huge TV. The A, B and C concourses will boast smaller 10-foot screen walls.
There’s a big price tag, too: $570,271 – and the entire deal is in exchange for signs that say “Powered by Samsung.”
EX-BFFs Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton got into one small kine fight at Lavo. Paris asked the DJ to play her song Stars Are Blind. Reportedly the audience laughed, and when the song ended Kim took the mic and said, “Now let’s hear some real music” … That’s what happens when one friend sleeps with the other friend’s NFL running back.
JUST WHEN many thought Las Vegas home prices couldn’t go lower, the market found a new bottom. That’s according to the S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices. The drop in value is attributable to the decline in the subprime mortgage market, foreclosures, the national recession and Nevada’s 14.5 percent unemployment.
SEVEN OUT – just in time for the Super Bowl … Carey Hart’s Wasted Space in the Hard Rock is rumored to close before the end of the year to make room for a sportsbook.
SOON THE CABS in Vegas will allow you to swipe your credit card to pay the fare. The convenience will cost you a processing fee of $3. Not a bad deal if you’re traveling on the company’s dime, but it may be a little steep when it’s coming outta your own pocket.
THE FOURTH ANNUAL Las Vegas Restaurant Week kicks off Aug. 30 at more than 80 of the city’s finest eateries. Each will feature a prix fixe three-course menu for $20.10, $30.10 and $50.10 per person. Your meal will taste even better knowing that a portion of the proceeds will be going to the food bank and to help Three Square end hunger in Las Vegas. FOR THE FOURTH consecutive month, gaming revenue went down … The Strip was off 7.6 percent to $382.9 million year over year. Does this mean we’re winning more or playing less? Smart money’s on the latter.
