The Sept. 5 Kaua’i Marathon attracted more than 1,500 runners to a course that offered views of beaches, volcanic peaks and tropical rain forests. The route began in Poipu, went under the Tunnel of Trees, wound through Omao, out to Lawai and then climbed to the top of Kalaheo before descending back to Poipu. Lots of work demands some play – and VIPs got plenty with a gathering at the Grand Hyatt Kaua’i Resort and Spa for heavy pupu, live music and an open bar.
