Tell us about your work, and what you do. I am founder of Paradise Beauty Salon & Spa, and I do most of the services we offer. Our services are very comprehensive, “from head to toe.” I am very passionate about what we do and how we can fulfill the needs of our guests. Having the technical tools, state-of-the-art equipment, years of experience and high-quality products helps our clients look their best.

How did you get started in this business and how long has it been going? I opened the spa in 1998 after living on Kaua’i for a few years. There were no boutique spas offering the services I had expertise in, and I wanted to give the community a one-stop shop where they could get all the services they ever dreamed of done in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.

Where are you from originally and what role does that play in your business, if any? I was born in California, and at 6 years old we moved to Spain. From there, it was Africa, Northern England, France, and then we ended up at the International School in Antwerp, Belgium, where I finished high school. I always was doing the hair and makeup of my mother’s friends, so she enrolled me in the L’Ecole De Beaute (beauty school) in Antwerp, where I studied for three years. I moved back to California to attend college and hone my new skills. (What a culture shock!) Now I attend trade shows, continuing education workshops and trade seminars.

What is your specialty? I am passionate about everything we do at Paradise Beauty Salon & Spa. From hair care to fixing a sore toe or an ingrown toenail (the client is so thankful) to advanced clinical skin care (anti-aging, acne, hyper-pigmentation), styling bridal hair and makeup, and lash extensions.

What sets your work apart? Passion, commitment to excellence and my expertise help my clients attain their goals, and a great team behind me sets our work apart. I am dedicated to providing a memorable service for each guest through exceptional service and technical excellence.

What is your business philosophy/motto? We go the extra mile to accomplish the client’s goal with passion, expert advice, the utmost professionalism and courtesy.

What is your business plan for the future? We recently completed an entire remodel of the salon and spa. We now have gorgeous bamboo floors, fabulous styling stations, understated cabinetry and cutting-edge equipment in our skin care rooms. We also painted and got a new sign. Photos of our remodel are next for the website!
