Please tell us about your business. We are a unique party-supply store located in Lihue. We carry items and brands that are different than mainstream products. For example, a lot of our products are paper, so they’re more eco-friendly. We also carry costumes for children and adults all year round. We have products for birthdays, holiday parties, dinner gettogethers and all other celebrations that occur throughout the year. However, we are not just a place to come and get party products; we also are about helping people create the best celebrations.

What are your favorite holidays or celebrations? Halloween is one of my favorites. Everybody gets really creative and imaginative, especially dressing up at Halloween. It makes you feel like a kid again. I love that feeling, it’s a happy time. We like to have haunted houses and do a big Halloween celebration. This year we did an Alice in Wonderland theme with a Mad Hatter tea party.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of this business? Having people come in and tell us how happy they are to have us here and that something like this was needed on the island. And that’s why we wanted to do this: to help people make their party better. Everybody has parties and wants to have that extra flair. So, for people to get excited about it and get excited about the things that we have that are a little bit different, is rewarding.
What’s the most challenging aspect of this business? Time management. My husband and I are both still working other jobs. The timing of shipping also is a big issue – it’s challenging and expensive and takes longer than expected sometimes.
What makes you get up every day and go to work? Because we want to be there for the community. Parties and celebrations are happy moments in people’s lives. We’d like to help bring that extra flair to it and take out some of the stress of trying to figure out creative ideas. That is what I really enjoy – the creating part. I love to share different ideas with whatever a person’s theme is. It’s a fun process and it’s working with people in positive and happy moments in their lives.
What sets your business apart? We carry a lot of paper products and have an eco-friendly mindset. When I order products, I’m going to order paper tablecloths instead of plastic, for instance. Many people have parties and throw things away, and I really wanted to try and have things that are biodegradable and also have multiple functions.
