Intentional Life Design

Tell us about your business. Intentional Life Design focuses on creatively empowering individuals to actively engage their lives and create authentic, embodied, healthy and happy relationships, careers and experiences. We offer a range of services to support the process of personal empowerment, ensuring that we are able to connect to our clients in meaningful ways. We offer individualized “life design coaching” sessions, public and private yoga classes, therapeutic mentorship for teens, integrative bodywork and movement-assessment sessions, and personal organization and motivation packages. I am a facilitator, or guide, who helps you find your way through the challenges of your life, your relationships, your history, and even the beliefs in your own mind that limit you from sharing your joy, your talent, your creativity, your playfulness and your heart with those in your life, in your community, in the world.

How did you get started in this business, and how long has it been going? I was raised in a family that emphasized the importance of mind-body health. It became an incredibly important foundation for what I chose to study, and ultimately had a strong hand in shaping my career. I’ve always been fascinated by human behavior, how and why we do the things we do, the variety of individual expressions, and by the movement and energy patterns in the body. My curiosity, fascination and appreciation is what got me started and keeps me going.

We began in the San Francisco Bay Area and recently relocated to Kaua‘i, and have officially been in operation for two and a half years.

Where are you from originally, and what role does that play in your business (if any)? I am a born-and-raised Kaua‘i girl. I think that has had a huge impact on how I approach my work, offer the services I provide, and most importantly how I connect with clients and colleagues. Honoring and acknowledging the importance of ohana, appreciation for community and diversity, and the aloha spirit all inform how I live my life and the work I do. I feel like being a Kaua‘i girl has taught me how to really see people all the way to the essence of who they are, and that is at the heart of my work.

What is your specialty, and who can benefit from it? My specialty is observing and understanding people — where they are in their life, really seeing the essence of who they are and supporting them in realizing their highest potential. I help individuals identify what obstacles, past traumas, behavior patterns or beliefs are keeping them from attaining the purposeful and joy-filled life they are seeking. Anyone who is interested in experiencing more joy, creativity, purpose, self-discovery, organization, motivation, improved self-esteem and overall mind, body and spirit wellness will receive valuable tools that will positively impact their lives.

For those who may not understand what you do, in lay terms, why is it important? Understanding ourselves is a fundamental component to creating lives we love, lives that awaken our own creativity and put us in touch with our personal calling. Who hasn’t asked the question “Why am I here?” or even “What makes me special?” This work not only begins to support you in answering those questions for yourself, but also begins to set you on a path of truly living your light and sharing yourself authentically in a way that you feel good about, even inspired by. And when you are inspired, fully alive and in your most joyful self-expression, that ripples out into your relationships and community, which reinforces this new understanding and expression of yourself.

What sets your business apart? I empower my clients so they grow to a place of balance and strength within themselves, and are more able to tap into their own internal resources. This work truly transforms limitations and opens clients into their own creative potential and full self-expression by developing body awareness, enhancing psycho-emotional awareness and using therapeutic techniques. I work holistically, creatively engaging my entire skill set and knowledge base to best support my client or student on their journey.

Why do you do what you do? I do what I do because I love it, I know that it works, and because every single one of us wants to feel good about who we are, what we offer into the world and how we connect with others. I also know that giving ourselves the love and support we need can be incredibly challenging. Having someone “on your team” can help you courageously face the places that have kept you stuck or playing small and support you in moving beyond those limitations toward your best life.

What motivates you to get up and go to work every day? People fascinate me. It is an honor to hear a person’s story and to witness how they breathe and move in their bodies in relation to that story. I absolutely love what I do and I believe it matters. Every class I teach or individual session I have with a client makes me feel incredibly grateful.

Do you have a business motto or philosophy for doing business? Each of us has a unique purpose and the creative potential to align with it, and it is this potential and capacity that leads us to create lives we love. I help people understand and integrate all parts of their lives so that they can really shine in their fullness, purpose and unique expression.

What is your business plan for the future? To continue showing up and serving the community, both through individual client work, public and private classes, and in the future more workshops, retreats and other transformational adventures.

If you weren’t doing this, what would you be doing? Honestly, I think I found my calling. I can’t imagine doing anything else.
