Letters to the Editor

The Hanalei River “breach” (correctly called an “avulsion”) has been the subject of several studies. The current effort performed by AECOM was funded by NRCS/East Kaua’i Soil and Water Conservation District. The site is located on state land and any permitting for work will be under the jurisdiction of the state and federal governments. The process will include public comment if and when permits are applied for.
