WELCOME TO Kimo’s Vegas … The Player’s Edge!

CAN YOU BELIEVE Celine Dion has been a resident headliner at the Colosseum in Caesars Palace for 10 years? That benchmark anniversary was March 25. Spocked in the audience recently: the ladies of the Woo clan. Linda Woo (director of sales and marketing for the Honolulu Star-Advertiser and MidWeek), mom Shirley and sister Monica Lee all agree the show is a must-see.

CAN YOU IMAGINE sitting at a poker table with four ladies only to discover that your Queens will be sucking eggs to a heart flush? That’s exactly what happened to Alex Adams when he saw Scott Rosen’s hand at Planet Hollywood’s poker room. Taking the sting from a bad beat is that the Mega Beat Progressive Poker Jackpot pays the losing hand $136,675, the winning hand $69,401, and all 216 players seated in a Caesars poker room at the time $2,159.

OUR FAVORITE prognosticator, Ron Bell from dpregame.com, says if you placed a $100 bet on the NBA Miami Heat and let it ride, your wallet would now have $55,500 more cash! The Vegas odds against a 23-game winning streak are about 555 to 1. That’s the thing about hindsight: It’s always 20/20 and in the polar opposite direction of my money.

DENVER BRONCOS safety Quinton Carter is being accused of cheating at a craps table. The Las Vegas native says he didn’t add $5 chips to his bets after the dice were rolled. The po-po says Texas Station casino provided security video that caught him in the act. The three felony charges each have a maximum sentence of six years in prison and a $10,000 fine. That makes it a really bad bet to be caught past posting (casino lingo for adding chips to your bet after you’ve won).

DIFFICULT ECONOMIC times have brought out the creativity in Nevada lawmakers, including one senator who’s proposing a stripper tax. Nightclubs, bars and restaurants that serve alcohol with live naked performances would be subject to $10 per head … I mean, per customer fee. The bill’s sponsors believe it could generate millions of dollars. The problem is proprietors are responsible for collecting the fee and paying it quarterly. Isn’t that like trusting the fat kid to guard the pie?

ANOTHER SENATOR is proposing a bill that bans folks under age 21 from working, or more specifically, performing in establishments as one “who seeks to arouse, appeal to, excite or gratify the lust, passions or sexual desires of the patrons of the establishment.” What’s got me scratching my noggin is brothels will be exempt from this law, making it OK to be a prostitute but not a stripper under the age of 21.
