Kimo’s Vegas
WELCOME TO Kimo’s Vegas … The Player’s Edge!
IN ONE EVENING, the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education raised more than $8 million at its 15th annual Grand Slam for Children benefit concert. I always find the auctions at these things interesting: Breakfast and tour of CBS with Katie Couric sold for $15,000 … lunch with Olympic champion Michael Phelps, and lessons from the first pitcher to win a Cy Young Award four years in a row, Greg Maddux, $60,000 … tickets to the 2011 Super Bowl, World Series, NBA Finals and NCAA Final Four auctioned for $65,000 … dinner with Robin Williams in San Francisco went for $100,000 … and a chance to hang with the heavies Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf and Michael Mina in the Cayman Islands set the winner back $100,000!
THE M RESORT is offering a football pool with a $100,000 buy-in – that’s about 10 grand more than the average price of a Vegas condo!
WHAT’S THE MOST MONEY you’ve ever lost in a single session of play? I’ll bet you 1,000 to 1 that two players in Singapore have got you beat. The pair lost a combined $115 million (U.S. dollars) playing baccarat … Now that’s what I call bad luck.
CIRQUE FANS, get up close and even go behind the scenes for the first time ever. The folks who bring us the magic of Cirque du Soleil will show off their stuff during Cirque Week (Nov. 29-Dec. 5). Check out the custom theater demo through the 6,300 custom-made speakers in the Mirage LOVE Theater, meet Chriss Angel, go to a dress rehearsal and Q&A session with the cast and crew of Zumanity, and much more. In fact, all seven of Sin City’s Cirque Productions have something special planned.

GAMING COMPANY Penn National is buying its way into Las Vegas, purchasing all bank and subordinated debt from the Bank of Scotland for $230.5 million … about 23 cents on the dollar. The company has 23 gaming properties in 15 states in North America and Canada.
OPRAH CALLED HER the “most talented girl in the world.” Charice took the Vegas stage at the One and Only Hit-Man David Foster and Friends concert at the Mandalay Bay. You may have seen the 18-year-old Filipina as a foreign-exchange student in Glee a few weeks ago … Gleeks will be happy to know that she has a hana hou in an upcoming episode. And an encore of her Vegas performance with mentor Foster is planned for Manila later this year.
CAN YOU BELIEVE there are people who have grown up watching MTV’s The Real World? Back in a NYC apartment in 1992, MTV contemporized reality television for an audience that grew up watching music videos. In season 12, the show called a high-roller suite in the Palms home and for season 25, The Hard Rock will do the honors. If you remember when MTV used to play music, then you remember when Donnie Whalberg was in a band.
THE SPORTING HOUSE Bar & Grill is the new name of the old ESPN’s Sports Zone in New York, New York.
