Farmers, Hyatt Spruce Up Waimea School

Farmers Insurance of Hawaii, in partnership with the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa, held a campus beautification project at Waimea Valley Middle School recently. Employees of Farmers and the Grand Hyatt worked along side school staff and students to plant new trees, hedges and other plants that were donated by Farmers.

“We are pleased and excited to be able to partner with Waimea Valley Middle School as a way of giving back to the community,” says Michelle Saito, president of Farmers Insurance Hawaii.

“We hope that this school beautification project will help generate school pride and benefit current students and generations to come.”

The day began with a ceremonial planting by Saito and Linda Uyehara, the school’s vice principal.

Plants were chosen for their ability to withstand dry conditions.
