Mary Nakamura Wins A $100 Foodland Shopping Spree
Artist Mary Nakamura of Ten Thousand Hands was stopped by a MidWeek Kaua’i representative outside of Foodland last week. When asked a simple question, Mary correctly replied – and won a $100 Foodland gift certificate.
“It’s nice to come to a store where people greet you and are friendly,” she said about the local grocery store she patronizes at least once a week.
The children’s art teacher prefers Foodland’s selection of fresh fish and its organic section.
“And it’s Hawai’i based,” she added. “They are really supportive of and generous to schools here.”
The Kapa’a resident also likes reading MidWeek Kaua’i.
“It’s very informative about what’s going on around the island,” she said.
Mary moved to Kaua’i in the 1970s from San Francisco, and has a son, Cory Mellein, who lives on Maui.
