Ramelo Somera Wins A $100 Safeway Shopping Spree

Ramelo Somera was shopping for groceries at Safeway when he was randomly approached by a MidWeek Kaua‘i representative and asked a very simple question. Since he knew the answer right away, he was awarded a $100 gift card to the Kapa‘a store.

“I know all the people here — they come to my church,” says the St. Catherine’s pastor regarding why he likes to shop at Safeway.

Ramelo, a Kapa‘a resident who is originally from the Philippines, enjoys seeing familiar faces and places each week in MidWeek Kaua‘i.

“It keeps me updated on what’s going on around Kaua‘i,” he says.
