Daniel Velasco Benefit
Folks flocked to Trees Lounge in Kapa’a May 14 in support of Kaua’i athlete Daniel Velasco. The 29-year-old was born in Colombia and moved to Kaua’i as a teenager, where he became one of the Garden Isle’s best triathletes. However, last March Velasco’s spinal cord was injured in a paragliding accident. The benefit, which featured an array of prized silent auction items, was arranged to help fund his recovery.
