Fast, Furious and Muddy
Racing was fast, furious and muddy as the Kaua’i Motocross Association opened its 2011 season on a newly designed track in Wailua. Despite sloppy conditions and unpredictable weather, 47 riders signed up to race.
The track is about one mile in length, and the fastest riders are getting around it in two minutes.
Competition is by age group, and the next race day is scheduled for March 13. Gates open at 7 a.m. with races starting at 10. Spectator fees are $5 per person, with children age 5 and under admitted free. Racers are encouraged to pre-register March 12 from noon to 4 p.m. at the track. For information about becoming a member or participating in races, call KMRA president Paul Medeiros at 635-2138 or e-mail kmra2011@hotmail.com.
Other officers include vice presidents Derrick Leanio and Harley Genegabus, and secretary-treasurer Sherri Medeiros. (Wouldn’t you know, Harley races a Honda.)
