Hundreds of people poured through the entrance to Kilohana Pavilion to sample culinary delights from 13 dining establishments during the second annual Garden Island Range and Food Festival.Sponsored by Kaua’i Agricultural Initiative, the festival pays tribute to folks involved in growing, raising, harvesting and preparing local foods in season. Locavores – people dining on locally produced foods – enjoyed sample-sized specialties while benefitting a culinary arts scholarship. Karen Ramento was the fortunate culinary arts student from Kaua’i Community College who received a $1,000 scholarship to continue her education.
