Inaugural Tri Fest A Hit
The inaugural International Garden Isle Tri Fest caused quite a stir in Kalapaki Bay and the area surrounding Kaua’i Marriott as 12 athletes completed the grueling Olympic-style 1.5K swim, 40K bike ride and 10K run. The March 13 race capped a two-day slew of events that included both kids and adults participating in paddleboarding, swimming and running competitions.
Joseph Kali emerged victorious in the Olympic Triathlon, conquering the course in two hours, seven minutes and 31 seconds – not too shabby considering most folks are still resting comfortably in bed at that hour. Judging by the event’s turnout and popularity, don’t be surprised to see it gain more popularity in the years to come.
