Lights On Rice Parade
More than 1,000 residents and visitors flocked to the annual Lights on Rice Parade in Lihu’e. From mid-morning on Dec. 3, Kaua’i Museum grounds had crafters, food booths and entertainment, and in the evening the focus shifted to the county park in front of the historic County Building where Kaua’i Chorale led the community in Christmas carols. Then the Festival of Lights got under way, with Santa chanting the countdown for thousands of lights strung on trees to pop on, followed by the parade down Rice Street, which featured more than 70 entries.
