“Why are you doing this?” “Just because.”
“Why did you get that?” “Just because.”
A MINDFUL MOMENT
Alice Inoue
D Just Because
o you remember asking a question when you were a kid and hearing the answer “Just because”?
I didn’t like when people answered my questions this way. Since then, I have realized some “just be- cause” guidance of my own. Here it is:
Just because your phone rings, doesn’t mean you have to answer it. Just because you have time, doesn’t mean you have to do it. Just because others think it’s a bad idea, doesn’t mean it is. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. Just because you do it differently, doesn’t mean you’re wrong. Just because it’s on social media, it doesn’t mean it’s true.
There is a lot of wisdom in “just because.”

OMoving A Gold Standard Forward
ne year ago, I stepped of our team members for the in to continue the work they’ ve done over the 124-year legacy of last year in meeting the chal-

wai‘i. After dairy farming on Hawai‘i Island for over 30 years, I couldn’t accept that this loved brand and all of the good it stood for would come to an end. Leading through the drama of last April’s public unfolding of bankruptcy and the challenges of starting over through a pandemic, it is clear to me that there is a greater plan for this resilient brand and the people who continue to lead it forward.
Looking back on my path, I hadn’t known then that I was preparing to take on this role now. While studying bio- chemistry, working in finance, manufacturing dairy, farming dairy cows, manufacturing industrial equipment, growing local feed or developing a ca- reer in shipping containers and logistics, I didn’t know that the journey was preparing me for this incredible responsibility of leading Meadow Gold today. I am lucky that I can bring all of myself and be supported by a team made of hundreds of years of collective experience and knowledge to imagine new possibilities. Together we are harnessing that energy to start a whole new chapter and to become a better version of ourselves.
We are finding our way in doing just that by committing ourselves to two guiding prin- ciples: providing the Meadow Gold promise to our custom-
uncertainty. To the team that chose to continue their jour- ney with me — I am grateful for you and the chance to be a part of Meadow Gold’s greater plan.

With this gift of leading Meadow Gold forward comes the responsibility of rising to the moment, and I am in awe
