The jack o’ lantern jar has a battery-oper- ated tea candle inside to make it glow, and either jar can be used to hold treats or just as decoration. Make a set for a fun grouping.

• artist silk sponge (No. 77514083)
• alcohol ink applicator, felt scrap or pompom
• black paint marker or Sharpie (No. 91029)
• 48 inches of raffia, twine or ribbon
• cardstock for tag
• green cardstock for leaves
• fine-tip marker
• 1/8-inch hole punch (No. 77178541)
• scissors
• battery-operated tea light candle

and rainy season. To get into that fall feeling, we drink pumpkin spice lattes and eat pump- kin spice doughnuts, and we decorate with the colors of fall. Sometimes, we add a whimsical touch like in this week’s projects: candy corn and jack-o’-lantern jars.

Use the black paint/perma- nent marker and draw a jack o’ lantern face on one side of the jar. Let dry.
Pumpkin jar finishing: Wrap raffia several times around the edge of the 4 jar lid. Bunch some up and make a bow and tie on. Cut out small leaves
from green cardstock and tie onto the raffia. Make a tag with a message and tie on.
   Pumpkin jar: Take the small 3-inch jar and remove the lid. Apply
a few drops of orange alcohol ink onto an applicator (or felt piece or pom pom). Blot ink onto the outside of the jar, coloring the jar com- pletely orange.

Use a pop-up glue dot and attach a battery- operated tea light to the inside of the jar lid. Switch tea light on. Screw lid back onto the jar.

Candy corn jar: Dab the sea sponge into the white paint. Sponge paint the top third of the outside of the jar. Letdry.

Sponge paint the middle third of the jar with the yellow paint. Let dry. Sponge paint the bottom third of the jar with the orange paint. Let dry.

Candy corn jar finishing: You can use the painted jar as is, with or without the lid. You can also use the black marker to make a face for a whimsical look.
