 As the end of summer break nears, it’s a time to celebrate new beginnings — like a new school year and, for me, a new job. Allow me to intro- duce myself.

Earlier this month, I was honored to be appointed corps officer for The Salva- tion Army’s Hanapēpē Corps and I look forward to meeting many of you in our outreach efforts in Hanapēpē and sur- rounding areas. I’ m also ex- cited to work closely with Capt. Shawn Uilani Keoho, who serves as The Salvation Army’s Kaua‘i County co- ordinator and Līhu‘e Corps officer.
The Salvation Army Līhu‘e Corps, located at 4182 Hardy St., is collecting back- to-school supplies until Aug. 1. Donations can be dropped off at the Līhuʻe Corps Thrift Store from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on any Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday or Saturday.
Our Kaua‘i social service programs include food dis- tribution and feeding pro- grams, family thrift stores in Hanapēpē and Līhuʻe, homeless services, and reli- gious services. Last year in Hawai‘i, we provided more than 1 million meals.
