             R Don’t Judge Me
Margaret Sanchez will be interim chancellor of Kaua‘i Comomunity College starting Jan. 3. She succeeds Joseph Daisy, who is retiring on Dec. 30 after a 44-year career in education. As vice chancellor for student affairs, Sanchez helped Kauai‘i CC get more than $3.5 million in grants in support of its mission, which helped the college be a Native Hawaiian- and Indigenous-serving institution.
Shalei Shintani has been promoted from sous chef to chef at Keoki’s Paradise in Po‘ipū. She brings more than five years of experience in Kaua‘i’s restaurant industry to the new role, and has expansive knowledge of the local market. She joined Keoki’s Paradise as a food preparation worker in 2017 and quickly learned the ropes, taking on increasing responsibilities.
ecently, the Honolulu Mayor’s Craft and Country Fair was held as an in-person event at the Blais- dell Exhibition Hall for the first time in two years.

Still Building Strong Financial Futures
All these clubs are about community service, but the real fun is getting to talk story with the folks at the many booths. What a bunch of characters! Anyway, I was asked to be a judge for the cookie and snack mix contest. Finally, something that I was born to do! In my book, they were all winners!
Finance Factors was founded 70 years ago to help many of Ha- wai‘i’s hardworking families who struggled to obtain loans for everyday needs, from refrigerators to pots and pans. As our community’s financing needs changed, we evolved, too. Today, we are a focused real estate lender and savings institution, specializing in conforming and nonconforming residential mortgages and commercial real estate loans.

The high cost of living, low housing inventory and current interest rates have made Hawai‘i a difficult place for many people to get ahead. Because of our long history in Hawai‘i, we understand its unique real estate market, and know that a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work for the challenges we face here. There- fore, we approach lending with creativ- ity, quick decision-making and a fierce commitment to make loans happen for our customers.
