Kimo’s Vegas

Michael Jordan’s boys
know how to party

WELCOME TO Kimo’s Vegas … The Player’s Edge!

BACK IN THE DAY, Gatorade had us all wanting to “Be like Mike.” But in 2010, Twitter may have us wanting to be more like Marcus and Jeffrey. The fruit of His Airness’ loins tweeted that they were in town for a fantasy basketball camp. They managed to squeeze in a little face time at Haze (night club) and hit the pool at Aira, dropping $56,000 on a single day of pre-back-to-school de-stressing! That’s some serious coin for us regular folk, but hardly a dent in just one of Papa Jordan’s endorsements. In 1991, his exclusive testimonial for “First in Thirst” was worth $13.5 million.

THE LAS VEGAS Gaming Control Board says that allowing a player to walk and dance on the top of a baccarat table is not kosher. In the Caesars high-limit room, dealers allowed a player to celebrate atop the felt not once or twice, but three times.

THE INTERNET was ablaze with rumors of a billion-dollar deal for Madonna last week. One thousand million … No one doubts that the Material Girl is a huge draw, but her last tour grossed just over $400 million. Her 85 shows had an average audience just south of 50,000 people. Current hotel concert venues have a maximum capacity of less than 5,000. That’s a whole lotta shows before the first dollar of profit is made.

Billion-dollar deal for
Madonna?

ENCORE at Wynn Las Vegas is offering no-meat and no-animal-byproducts dishes on its menus. The vegan options were always available on request. Executive chef David Snyder said, “It’s printed on the menu now. It’s a little more in-your-face that we’re doing this.”

THE BOYS are back in town … Now through Sept. 25, the original SOS Classic is returning to the SOS Main Showroom at Outrigger Waikiki. During its nine-year Las Vegas tenure, the group won many awards including the Best Show Award (2010) and a star on the famous Las Vegas Walk of Stars (in front of the Flamingo Hotel). Check ’em out every Tuesday through Saturday at 8:30 p.m. and get the kama’aina deal with free parking. Call 923-SHOW (7469).

IF YOU CAN break away from the casino, check out the third annual Barrett Jackson Auction Sept. 23-25 at Mandalay Bay.

SEVEN OUT … Lloyds Banking Group is soliciting bids for ownership of M Resort. Expressing interest in the 93-acre property are M Resort CEO Anthony Marnell III, Boyd Gaming Corp., Fertitta Gaming and Penn National Gaming.

THE QUARTER Wheel of Fortune paid out big for two lucky people at McCarran International Airport. The first jumbo jackpot of $303,806.30 went to an anonymous winner, but Joseph Allen hit the big money $906,558.77 … What is it about those people inside the machine screamin’ that makes us so pupule?
