HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO HUGH … head Bunny huncho Hugh Hefner celebrated his 85th birthday at the Palms. In attendance, a full month’s worth of Playmates (31) and his fianceé, December 2009 centerfold Crystal Harris, (check out the rock on her finger). At the same time he handed the keys to the Playboy kingdom to his 21-year-old son Marston, immediately creating a decline in Viagra stock.
TRAFFIC CAME TO A HALT as Hef led Crystal and Marston with gal pal Claire Sinclair to the hotel’s marquee billboard marking the joint birthday celebration. It was one of the largest photo opportunities of Hef’s life as he posed with 31 Playmates …
AS I WRITE THIS, the price of a gallon of gas across the state of Nevada is $3.87 a gallon, up a quarter from last week … Seems like a bargain while pumps on Kauai push $4.50 …
I WONDER if they got the extended warranty … A water pipe broke inside the Cosmopolitan resort recently, forcing the closure of two restaurants and sports book. When you spend $3.9 billion on a place, you’d expect no major breakage in the first five months …
VEGAS MATH … At more than $116 million, many considered the place’s grand opening to be “the party of the year.” In its first two weeks of operation, The Cosmo posted a net loss of $139.5 million. During the same time period the hotel had $10.6 million in revenue … hey, even I can do that. It was, however, the only Vegas joint to make the annual Conde Nast Traveler‘s Hot List.

PARIS HILTON says the Hard Rock owes her $200,000 for two 2009 appearances. In addition to the cash, the other riders include: first-class suite and $150 per diem, five more comp rooms and $75 per diem per room, private plane G4, limo service, comp meals for 10 at Nobu/Ago/Rare, an “owners cabana” including food and beverage, 24-hour security and stylist Michael Boychuk approved for the artist’s hair and makeup … Why the hurry up to get paid? With the economic downturn, Paris’ execs are concerned the hotel may file bankruptcy and stiff the entrepreneur …
