Hanakila, Westside Hoop It Up
While National Basketball Association players recently joined their National Football League brethren by going on strike, jeopardizing yet another rapidly approaching professional sports season, young amateurs are hard at work on the hardcourt.
Hanakila (pictured in black jerseys) defeated the squad from Westside Basketball, 55-27, in a Kaua’i Youth Basketball Association Boys’ Under 12 division game July 2 at Kalaheo Neighborhood Gym. These youths who play for nothing more than pride could teach the pros a thing or two about what the sport is truly about.
